TPFS Accredited Pelvic Floor Units

Pelvic Floor Unit Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) bring together clinicians from the different specialties that treat pelvic floor disorders and allow discussion of cases and appropriate treatments to be offered.

The Pelvic Floor Society (TPFS) initiated our Pelvic Floor Unit Accreditation Pathway in 2018. This aims to promote best practice, provide quality assurance and allow some standardisation of MDTs. Since then, eight units have assessed and accredited, with three more units in the pipeline.

TPFS accreditation is about the procedure and governance of the unit, rather than directly assessing individual patient outcomes.

In the accreditation process, a member of the Unit MDT completes a structured form in which it provides evidence of how it meets key performance indicators (KPIs). This documentation is sent to at least four TPFS nominated peer reviewers who assess the evidence online independently. The Pelvic Floor Society QA and Clinical Governance Chair co-ordinates the assessment and informs the unit whether they have been successful in their application for accreditation or not.

You can view the KPIs here >

Units are required to renew their accreditation every four years.
