The National Neuromodulation Registry (NNR) and the NHS Pelvic Organ Prolapse & Stress Urinary Incontinence (POP‑SUI) registry are key national datasets designed to improve the safety, effectiveness and governance of specialist interventions through collection of real‑world outcome data.
The NNR captures longitudinal data on neuromodulation therapies, including sacral nerve stimulation for bladder and bowel dysfunction, linking device information with clinical and patient‑reported outcomes to enable device surveillance, benchmarking and evaluation of treatment effectiveness across centres.
In parallel, the POP‑SUI registry is a mandatory national registry established in response to the Cumberlege report, capturing all procedures for pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence, including both mesh and non‑mesh comparators, to ensure comprehensive outcome monitoring and transparency.
Together, these registries support early identification of safety concerns, facilitate traceability of implanted devices, enable comparison of outcomes between procedures and providers, and generate high‑quality evidence to inform clinical decision‑making and patient consent. Entering data into these registries is therefore integral to modern clinical practice, supporting continuous audit, quality improvement, regulatory compliance and research, while ensuring that patient care is underpinned by robust, nationally comparable outcome data.
